I finally know what I want to do in my presentation! It finally dawned on me that if I tell my story that more people would listen, and could relate more. It was a really good feeling coming up with that idea. I dont know what it was, it just feels good! I'm going to go with what feels right, and fly with it!

It has been another busy week! I did manage to work on my presentation a little though. I also watched a video that my teacher wanted me to watch. It was very hard to process. The video was about a girl that got bullied for being big when she was younger, and completely let herself go. In the process of being bullied her judgment to make healthy choices was clouded by the pain she went through. Watching the video I really want to understand why that happens to people, and I want to help them starting at a young age so they will know sooner that they can be healthy and that they are worth it.

Last week was very exciting! I finally got the courage to step outside the box, and to email one of the people my teacher said would be great! She was more than great! She gave me great information that I really want to digest and have time to really study. With being young, and an athlete it isn't always that easy! I am looking forward to talking to her again, and to get even more insight for the road ahead! I want to start looking at what things lead to what young people think about their bodies, and why they choose the bad path instead of the better one.

It has been a good week, and I am ready for another good week! I have found a lot of helpful information for my project, and already have helped a few people! The feeling of helping somebody is amazing! I am planning on emailing a few people who can help me with my project. I am very excited for what they will provide for my project. Throughout the months I have become more and more interested in being healthier. You have to start somewhere, and so I have found a website where I can get several recipes that are a healthy way to eat. You can click on the link here if you would like to check it out paleogrubs.com. This site has helped me a lot, and I hope it can help you too!

What does it mean to be healthy? That is the first step in my Genius Hour project. I am searching for answers from different places about what it really means to be healthy. It has been harder than I thought, but on the bright side I have had a little bit of success. I am also going to look for a health and fitness coach that is willing to give me some answers about being healthy. Through this step in my project I will also get information from books and other sources besides just looking on the internet. I'm still deciding on how I want to put my presentation together, but I am aiming for a Powerpoint or iMovie. I just don't know which one I want to do. My opportunity for finding the right information, and how I want to put it all together will come to me I just know it, because it's a big world. I just have to have to go with the flow and let everything unfold out in front of me.

My name is Mackenzie Corlis, and I am a normal high school student in a very small town. I am passionate about my faith, animals, health, music, movies, photography, and art along with many other things. I have been looking forward to doing big things for myself and others! I have always wanted to do something big, but just don't know where to start, or even have the courage to do it. Lately i have had a change of heart about myself and what i want to be. I want to be something more than a regular teenager. I want to be healthy, and to not feel bad about myself. Most teens my age might not care what they eat or what they put into their bodies, and some might not even have a clue. I am doing a project in my first hour English class called Genius Hour, and I work on it every week. My goal isn't to go around telling people you HAVE to eat this or you HAVE to do this. No way! My goal is to make people my age feel good about themselves and to not have to deal with people calling them fat or too skinny. I want them to know that both girls and boys have a choice and chance to be healthy, and that they are beautiful and worth it. Being healthy can help with their self-esteem because it is already helping me and i've only just begun!
